Cheap night tours are mostly walks. That's the honest summary.

Thirteen of these fifteen are on foot, and nine are ghost or dark-history walks. Boats and buses cost more to run, and the stargazing trips we like start around $39 (€35), just over the line. What $35 (€31) buys is a guide, a route and a couple of hours of stories, and in the right city that's the best evening you'll have.

We set the cap at $35 (€31) per person on the from-price we saw on October 26, 2026, and ranked the 126 tours under it by the same Night Score as everywhere else on the site. Price already counts for a fifth of that score, so a cheap tour has a head start. It still needs the reviews and the dark.

About $8 (€7.10) an hour for a guide, a bumboat and the coach between shows, the lowest hourly rate here outside the Budapest crawl. The catch, if you're counting every dollar: Garden Rhapsody and Spectra are free. Gardens by the Bay lists Garden Rhapsody daily at 7:45 p.m. and Marina Bay Sands runs Spectra at 8:00 p.m., so a do-it-yourself evening costs your MRT fare. With CYT you pay $32 (€29) for the river and the timing.

What it is: Chope Your Tour (CYT) leads a guided evening from Merlion Park through Clarke Quay, a 30-minute bumboat ride on the Singapore River, Garden Rhapsody at Gardens by the Bay and Spectra at Marina Bay.

Good to know: Meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Starbucks at One Fullerton (Raffles Place MRT exit H); the river cruise, coach legs, water and guide are included, dinner is not despite one line on the page. Groups up to 35; hotel pickup costs more, and the tour can end at Lau Pa Sat for supper.

After dark: Both free light shows, Garden Rhapsody at the Supertrees and Spectra on the Marina Bay Sands waterfront, only run after dark, and the river cruise is timed between them.

Cheap per ticket or cheap per hour?

Our score looks at the hourly rate, not the sticker. A short tour at a low price can be worse value than a long one at a higher price. Here's how a few compare:

So the Gettysburg cellar, at the same $20 (€17.90) as the Ripper walk, is a little worse value by the hour. It's also the only one in that table that unlocks a door for you.

What the price leaves out

A from-price is a floor. On this list, drinks are the big extra: the Budapest crawl includes shots and nothing else, and the Edinburgh walk finishes in a pub where you pay. Tips are included on the Ripper walk and on Spellbound in Salem, but not on the Savannah Ghostwalker. In Monteverde, check whether the refuge fee is in; on the Three Brothers walk it is.

The three sale prices: the Ripper walk ($20 (€17.90), was $27 (€24)), Amsterdam ($25 (€22), was $29 (€26)), and the Budapest crawl ($4.49 (€4), was $9 (€8)). Honestly, if one of the top three goes back to full price on your date, it's still cheap.

Free nights that beat a paid tour

Some of the best things after dark cost nothing, and a few of them are better done alone.

  • Singapore: Garden Rhapsody at 7:45 and 8:45 p.m., then Spectra at Marina Bay. Both free. Singapore page.
  • Washington, DC: the National Mall memorials are open 24 hours. Walking route.
  • Edinburgh: Greyfriars Kirkyard is open 24 hours a day, every day.
  • New York: the Staten Island Ferry is free and runs 24 hours, past the harbor lights.
  • Las Vegas: the Viva Vision light show on Fremont Street runs free every hour from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
  • Rome: the Trevi Fountain is free to view after its inner area closes at 10 p.m.

Runners-up and the near misses

The two-per-city rule cut London's Ghastly Ghosts walk (7.7, $34 (€30)) and Budapest's paddle-steamer hour on the Danube (7.4, $12 (€10.70)). Both are good, and the steamer may be the best $12 (€10.70) you spend in Europe.

Just below the line: the Dublin Literary Pub Crawl, the Lisbon pub crawl and the Savannah Supernatural walk, all on 7.3, and the Prague Nightwatchman walk, also 7.3, for $27 (€24). The tip-based Dark Side of Florence scores 7.2; with no real price, our value factor parks it in the middle. In New Orleans, French Quarter Phantoms' ghost walk costs $21 (€18.80) but scores 6.9 on a 4.7 rating.

What is the cheapest good night tour?

The Budapest ruin-bar crawl at $4.49 (€4) on sale, if you count shots and club entry as a tour. For a guided walk, Meet the Street's Jack the Ripper tour in London at $20 (€17.90), or either Gettysburg cellar tour at the same price.

Are tip-based night walks worth it?

They can be. The Dark Side of Florence charges a $3.43 (€3.10) booking fee, and its page says people tip between $11.20 (€10) and $56 (€50). Rated 4.9 from 3,591 reviews. Budget a fair tip and it is still cheaper than most guided evenings in Florence.

What is the cheapest ghost tour in the US?

On our lists, three cost $20 (€17.90): Spirits of Jennie Wade and Spirits Speak Orphanage in Gettysburg, and the Savannah Supernatural walk. The Gettysburg pair go inside after dark. See the US ghost list.

Do cheap night tours include drinks?

Rarely. Budapest's prosecco cruise is the exception, with unlimited sparkling wine, spritzers and beer for $28 (€25). The Budapest crawl includes shots only, and the Edinburgh and Rome walks include none.

Why isn't stargazing on the cheap list?

The good ones start just over the cap. Both top Teide tours cost about $39 (€35). They're on our stargazing page and the world list.
