Night Tours in Singapore

#1: CYT light-show cruise, 8.6 Dark by 7:13 p.m. in October 8 tours ranked

Singapore at night is warm, wet-aired and very well lit.

The headline acts here are free. Garden Rhapsody plays across the Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay twice a night, and Spectra runs over the water in front of Marina Bay Sands. Nobody sells you a ticket to either. So the tours that rank well in Singapore are the ones that string those shows together with something you can't do for nothing, like a bumboat on the river, a guide on a bike, or a hawker walk that ends at Lau Pa Sat when the satay smoke is up.

The number one tour costs $32 (€29). That's not a typo.

We ranked eight on the Night Score. The cheap group cruises take the top two places, two bike rides and the Night Safari transfer sit in the middle, and the private car tours come last because they cost four or five times as much for roughly the same lit skyline. What's missing tells you something too: no ghost walk, no pub crawl and no night market tour cleared our bar here.

  • From $32 (€29)
  • 4 hours
  • Starts: 5:30 p.m.
  • Large group
  • 4.9 (1,655 reviews)

Top of the page, mostly on price. Four hours for $32 (€29) works out at about $8 (€7.10) an hour, which maxes the value factor, and a 4.9 from 1,655 reviews keeps the rating strong. Chope Your Tour meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Starbucks at One Fullerton, by Raffles Place MRT exit H. You get a 30-minute bumboat on the river, both light shows and coach legs between them. Dinner isn't included, whatever one line on the page suggests. Groups go up to 35. Some nights it finishes at Lau Pa Sat for supper.

Good to know: Meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Starbucks at One Fullerton (Raffles Place MRT exit H); the river cruise, coach legs, water and guide are included, dinner is not despite one line on the page. Groups up to 35; hotel pickup costs more, and the tour can end at Lau Pa Sat for supper.

After dark: Both free light shows, Garden Rhapsody at the Supertrees and Spectra on the Marina Bay Sands waterfront, only run after dark, and the river cruise is timed between them.

Same evening, different operator, and the one to pick if you don't want to find your own way to Merlion Park. Omnicity collects you from your hotel between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m., then it's a photo stop, a 40-minute Water B river cruise and the two shows. It costs $40 (€36). A 4.8 from 898 reviews is a little softer than CYT's, which is the whole gap between second and first. Groups up to 30, and it isn't wheelchair accessible. The hawker dinner is on you.

After dark: The route is built around Garden Rhapsody and Spectra, Singapore's two free light-and-water shows, which only run after dark.

The best way to see the bay, I think, if you're steady on a bike. Let's Go Tour Singapore starts at 7:00 p.m. from its shop at Block 462 Crawford Lane in Lavender and rides the Kallang River to the National Stadium, the Flyer, the F1 pit grandstand and Marina Bay Sands. Rated 4.9 from 598. Two hours for $48 (€43) is about $24 (€22) an hour, so value pulls it below the cruises. Capped at 15, and every booking needs at least two people. Solo travelers, note that.

Good to know: Bike, helmet, poncho, water, bag storage and an STB-licensed guide are included; food is not. Capped at 15 with a 2-person minimum per booking, starts and ends at Block 462 Crawford Lane, not advised for pregnant travelers.

After dark: The ride is timed for the lit Marina Bay skyline, the Flyer and the F1 pit straight after dark, when the bay is cooler and far quieter on a bike.

7.0/10Night Score
  • From $84 (€75)
  • 3 hours
  • Starts: Evening hotel pickup
  • Large group
  • 4.8 (112 reviews)

The only Night Safari product that passed our bar, and it scores a perfect 10 on after-dark, because the park only opens at night. Two things hold it at fourth. It has just 112 reviews, so the rating and review-count factors are low. And $84 (€75) is a lot next to the park's own adult ticket of $45 (€41; S$58), which already includes the tram. What Wandoras really sells is the ride to Mandai and back. Capped at 25, pickup details come by WhatsApp or email.

Good to know: Includes Night Safari admission, the tram ride, a guide and air-conditioned transport; pickup details arrive by WhatsApp or email before the day. Capped at 25, free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead; the park's walking trails are yours to do after the tram, and food is extra.

After dark: The Night Safari only opens after dark, and its leopards, fishing cats and other nocturnal animals are active under the park's moonlight-style lighting.

A perfect 5.0 from 240 reviews, the best rating on the page. It ranks fifth because the first half is in daylight: Bike Around Tour Singapore starts at 5:00 p.m. and rides Kampong Gelam, Haji Lane and Little India before reaching Marina Bay as the lights come on. Three hours for $60 (€54). Capped at 8 and you need to be confident on a bike. The food pick. Woopa Travels meets at 6:00 p.m. at Clarke Quay MRT exit E, beside the Burger King, walks the river past Boat Quay and finishes at Lau Pa Sat with 9 to 10 tastings along the way. It has 1,693 reviews at 4.8, so it's well proven. But $87 (€78) for 3.5 hours is the priciest group tour here, and the food is the point more than the dark, which is why it sits sixth. Capped at 12, minimum age 7. Tips and extra food are on you.

Private car, 6:00 p.m. pickup from a city hotel, then Little India, the Supertree Grove, the Sands SkyPark observation deck and a 40-minute river cruise. The SkyPark ticket is the one thing here the cheap tours don't include. Still, $149 (€133) per person for 3.5 hours is about $43 (€38) an hour, and a 4.6 from 644 reviews is the lowest rating on the page. Both sink it. MAM Holidays prices it per person, so a family doesn't get a car-sized discount unless the group pricing applies to you.

What Singapore nights are actually like

Hot. Always. Night lows in our weather data sit between 76°F and 79°F (24°C to 26°C) in every month of the year, so "cooler after dark" means less sun, not cool.

Marina Bay is where the evening happens for visitors. The Supertrees light up for Garden Rhapsody, the Marina Bay Sands waterfront runs Spectra, and the promenade around the bay fills with people walking between them. Clarke Quay and Boat Quay along the river are the bar strip. Lau Pa Sat, the old market hall on Raffles Quay, sets up Satay Street on Boon Tat Street next door, and its own site lists it from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. on weekdays and from 3:00 p.m. on weekends.

What it doesn't have, at least on the big booking sites, is much of a ghost-walk scene. None qualified.

Cruise, bike, food walk or safari

Cruise and light shows for a first night. It's cheap, it's easy and it covers the bay. Take CYT if you can get yourself to Raffles Place, Omnicity if you'd rather be picked up.

Bike if you want the same skyline with fewer people around you. The 7:00 p.m. Marina Bay ride is fully after dark; the Light to Night ride gives you the old neighborhoods in daylight first.

Food walk if dinner is the plan anyway.

Night Safari is its own thing, out at Mandai in the north of the island, and it needs a whole evening. Our Night Safari page covers it in full, including why the plain ticket beats every tour on price.

The private cars only make sense if somebody in your group can't do buses, boats or much walking.

The free version: two light shows in one evening

You can do the top tour's highlights yourself, for nothing.

Gardens by the Bay lists Garden Rhapsody daily at 7:45 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. at the Supertree Grove, free. Marina Bay Sands runs Spectra at 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, with an extra 10:00 p.m. show on Fridays and Saturdays, watched from the Event Plaza on the waterfront. Also free. So the easy plan is the 7:45 p.m. Rhapsody, then walk round to the Event Plaza for the 9:00 p.m. Spectra.

The Rhapsody soundtrack changes through the year. It's Opera in the Gardens for October, Garden Waltz from November 1 to 26, and a Christmas Special from November 27, 2026 to January 3, 2027. One catch: Gardens by the Bay says admission charges to the Supertree Grove may apply during ticketed events like Christmas Wonderland.

What the tours add is the bumboat, a guide and someone else working out the route. For $32 (€29), honestly, that's fair. For $175 (€156) it isn't.

Getting back late

The MRT doesn't run all night. Singapore's Land Transport Authority gives its hours as 5:30 a.m. to around midnight daily, with longer hours on festive nights. Last trains differ by station and line, so check SMRT or SBS Transit for yours before the 10:00 p.m. Spectra.

After that it's a taxi or a ride-hailing app. Watch the surcharges, which the LTA publishes:

  • Late night, midnight to 5:59 a.m.: 50% on top of the meter.
  • Evening peak, 5:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. every day: 25%.
  • Starting in the City Area from 5:00 p.m. to before midnight: $2.30 (€2.10; S$3).
  • Gardens by the Bay: $2.30 (€2.10; S$3) at any time. Mandai, for the Night Safari: $3.90 (€3.50; S$5) from 1:00 p.m. to before midnight.

Leaving at 11:55 p.m. and leaving at 12:05 a.m. are not the same price. Most of the ranked tours end near an MRT station or drop you at your hotel, so you may never need a cab.

Seasons: dark at seven, rain most days

Singapore sits almost on the equator, so the dark barely moves. It's dark by 7:13 p.m. in October and November and by 7:42 p.m. in February, about half an hour of swing across the year. Every 5:30 p.m. tour start is in daylight, all year.

Rain matters more than temperature. Our weather dataset counts rain on about 27 days in an average November and December, against about 17 in February. Both bike tours on this page include a poncho, which tells you how often it gets used.

December brings the Christmas Special at the Supertrees.

What to skip

The two private car evenings, for most people. They're well rated but they cost $149 (€133) and $175 (€156) per person for the same lit bay the $32 (€29) cruise shows you.

We also left out the Big Bus night tour and the DUCK amphibious tour because their ratings fell below our bar, and a Mangrove nocturnal walk with only two reviews. If one of those builds a real track record, it can come back.
