The Night Safari is worth an evening. The tours to it mostly aren't.
This is a zoo that opens at 6:00 p.m., keeps its trails dark and lit low, and shows you animals that do their living at night. Mandai runs it. Its own adult ticket for visitors is $45 (€41; S$58), and the Safari Adventure Tram, the 30-minute ride around the park with English commentary, is included in that.
So what does a tour add? A guide on the bus and a ride to Mandai, which sits a long way from the city center. The only reseller product that cleared our bar charges $84 (€75) for that. Everything else we looked at was rated 4.5 or lower, most of it under 4.

4.8 (112 reviews)
The one Night Safari product that passed, and a perfect 10 on our after-dark factor, because the park only opens at night. Wandoras picks you up from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, includes admission and the tram, and leaves the walking trails to you afterward. Rated 4.8, but from only 112 reviews, which is why the rating and review-count factors are low. At $84 (€75) you're paying about $39 (€35) over the plain ticket for transport and a guide. Capped at 25; pickup details arrive by WhatsApp or email.

What it is: Wandoras runs a shared transfer from your hotel to Mandai's Night Safari, with the admission ticket and the park's own tram ride included.
Good to know: Includes Night Safari admission, the tram ride, a guide and air-conditioned transport; pickup details arrive by WhatsApp or email before the day. Capped at 25, free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead; the park's walking trails are yours to do after the tram, and food is extra.
After dark: The Night Safari only opens after dark, and its leopards, fishing cats and other nocturnal animals are active under the park's moonlight-style lighting.

The official visit: hours, tickets and the tram
Everything here comes from Mandai's own pages, checked today.
Hours: daily, 6:00 p.m. to midnight, last entry 11:15 p.m. The walking trails and the tram start at 7:00 p.m. Every visitor has to pick a time slot when booking.
Visitor tickets: adult $45 (€41; S$58), child $32 (€29; S$41). Mandai lists no senior rate for tourists.
Residents: with a free WildPass, adults pay $38 (€34; S$48) Sunday to Thursday and $41 (€36; S$52) on Fridays, Saturdays, public holidays and their eves. Seniors pay $19.60 (€17.50; S$25).
Tram: included. First departure 7:00 p.m., last 11:20 p.m., each ride about 30 minutes depending on crowds.
There are two free shows. Creatures of the Night plays at 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. in the amphitheater, and you must book a seat online, which opens two hours before each show. Embers of Night runs at 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. in the entrance courtyard, no booking.
Mandai also sells its own guided buggy tour, the Safari Adventure Tour. The group version runs 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. for $116 (€103; S$148), up to 13 people, with an elephant feeding and the Creatures of the Night show. Park admission is not included. A private buggy for up to seven is $587 (€524; S$750).
Ticket or tour: the math
The plain ticket costs $45 (€41; S$58). The ranked tour costs $84 (€75). The difference is transport.
Doing it yourself, Mandai's own shuttle, the Mandai Khatib Bus, costs $2 (€1.70; S$2.50) each way from Khatib MRT, plus your train fare to Khatib. A taxi is the middle option: the LTA lists a $3.90 (€3.50; S$5) Mandai surcharge on fares from 1:00 p.m. to before midnight, on top of the meter, plus the evening peak surcharge.
The other tours we looked at don't come close. Tour East's classic Night Safari tour rates 3.8 from 1,286 reviews. A ticket-with-tram reseller product sits at 3.2. A Zoo and Night Safari combo rates 4.5, but from 13 reviews.
GetYourGuide lists a tram-and-transfer product with the same title as the ranked one, from $67 (€60) with a 4.4 rating, but its page wouldn't load for us, so we can't say whether it's the same thing. If it is, it's cheaper.
Who should book the tour? A family that doesn't want to change trains and buses at 11 p.m. with tired kids. That's a fair reason.
What you see at night
That's the whole point of the place. The Night Safari is lit low, in what the product listing calls a moonlight style, and the animals are the ones that are active after dark. Leopards are on the list.
You see it two ways. The tram loops the park with audio commentary in English. The walking trails go deeper: Mandai names the Tasmanian Devil Trail, the Pangolin Trail, the Leopard Trail and the East Lodge Trail. Do the tram first, then walk. Everything starts at 7:00 p.m.
Leave the flash off. Mandai asks every visitor to turn it off because it can startle or blind the animals.
Getting there and back
Mandai says the reserve is about a 30-minute drive from the city. The Night Safari is at Mandai Wildlife EAST.
Mandai Khatib Bus. From Khatib MRT (NS14) on the North South Line. It runs daily from 8:30 a.m. to midnight, every 15 minutes, dropping to every 20 minutes after 11:00 p.m. The ride takes about 20 minutes. It takes contactless cards and phones only, no cash. Children under 7 ride free. The last bus back leaves Mandai Wildlife EAST, coach bay lot 3, at midnight.
Public buses. The 138 from Ang Mo Kio MRT or Springleaf MRT, and the 927 from Choa Chu Kang MRT. Get off at the Singapore Zoo stop for EAST.
Taxi or app. The taxi stand is at EAST Exit 3. Mandai lists Grab, Gojek, TADA, Ryde and Zig for ride-hailing.
Here's the catch. The LTA gives MRT hours as running to around midnight, and the last shuttle leaves Mandai at midnight. If you're relying on the train, I'd be on a shuttle by 11:00 p.m. Stay to closing and you're likely in a taxi, and from midnight the LTA adds 50% to the meter.
When to go and what to bring
The trails open at 7:00 p.m., and Singapore gets dark between 7:13 p.m. in October and November and 7:42 p.m. in February. So an early slot starts at dusk. A slightly later one gets you full dark on the first tram.
It's hot. Night lows in our weather data sit between 76°F and 79°F (24°C and 26°C) all year. Mandai tells visitors to wear insect repellent and comfortable shoes. Lockers cost $9.40 (€8.40; S$12) for three hours for a medium one.
Rain is likely in November and December, when our dataset counts rain on about 27 days a month.
Closures right now
The Fishing Cat exhibit on the Pangolin Trail is closed from October 7 to December 31, 2026 for refurbishment, Mandai says. Some tour listings still mention fishing cats as a reason to go. Not this year.
