Barcelona runs late. People eat late, the bars fill after dinner, and the nightlife doesn't really start until around midnight. That alone makes it a better night-tour city than most.
The ten tours below are ordered by our Night Score. Three ghost walks sit in the top four, and none costs more than $25 (€22). Runner Bean's Dark Past walk through El Born leads at 7.5. The others are a tapas crawl, two pub crawls, a sunset catamaran, and the two Gaudí houses on Passeig de Gràcia that open their doors after dark.
The Gaudí products are the odd ones. They score highest of anything here on the after-dark factor, because the rooftop shows only happen at night. They rank low because their ratings, 4.4 and 4.5, are the weakest on the page. Big crowds, mixed reviews. Read the reasons before you book them.

The 10 best night tours in Barcelona, ranked
Every tour we scored in Barcelona that cleared our bar (rated 4.4 or more from 50+ reviews), in Night Score order. Night Score = 30% rating, 10% review count, 20% price per hour, 40% how much the night is the point. How we score
The best night tour in Barcelona on our numbers, and it's $25 (€22). Two hours through El Born and La Ribera: execution sites, old cemeteries, the Inquisition. It starts under the Arc de Triomf and is timed to nightfall, so the start moves with the season. Runner Bean brings a projector to show old images on the walls, which is a smart touch. 4.9 from 353 reviews. It runs in any weather, headsets are provided, and it isn't for under-14s. The same tour sells on Viator with fewer reviews.

What it is: A Runner Bean Tours dark-history night walk through El Born and La Ribera, starting under the Arc de Triomf, with a projector for old images.
Good to know: Not suitable for children under 14. Runs in all weather; headsets are provided. The same tour sells on Viator (33923P1, 4.9, 191 reviews); I kept GYG for its larger review count.
After dark: It is timed to nightfall, so the execution sites, old cemeteries and Inquisition stories of El Born are told in the dark.

4.7 (1,657 reviews)
The cheapest tour on the page, $14.92 (€13.30) on sale, down from $21 (€18.80), and the most reviewed walk at 1,657. That combination puts it second. It's 90 minutes through the Gothic Quarter's lanes and church squares: plague, the Inquisition, ghost stories. It starts in the Traveller's Nest bar, which tells you something about the crowd. The 4.7 rating is a notch below Runner Bean's. English only, and no group cap is stated, so expect a big group on busy nights. The page warns it's not for people with heart problems.

You get 8 tapas and 4 drinks across 4 Gothic Quarter bars, from Liceu metro on La Rambla to Plaça de Catalunya. 4.9 from 524 reviews. At $80 (€71) on sale, down from $100 (€89), it's the priciest tour in the top half, about $23 (€20) an hour, which is what holds it at third. About 1.6 km of walking. A pub crawl for $17.05 (€15.20) with drinks and club entry, which is why it scores a perfect 10 on value. Los Patos hosts you through 3 bars and then gets you past the line at a club such as Razzmatazz. 4.9 from 204 reviews. The catch is the logistics: the meeting point and the club change nightly and arrive by WhatsApp on the day, and the listed spot is Passeig de Colom 23. Cloakroom and anything you buy yourself are extra. Barcelona's clubs start around midnight. This is how you get into one without knowing anyone.

Shared boat
4.7 (3,577 reviews)
3,577 reviews make it one of the most proven products here, and $31 (€28) for 90 minutes is fair. It ranks sixth because it's more sunset than night. Catamaran Orsom sails a 78-foot boat out of Port Vell with live jazz and comes back as the waterfront lights come on. It leaves opposite the Columbus monument at the end of La Rambla, by the Maremagnum bridge. The page lists food and drinks, then says drinks are sold on board. Assume you're paying. Since the clocks went back, winter sailings start well before 6 p.m.

The most reviewed night product in Barcelona, 9,115 reviews, and it scores 9 on the after-dark factor because the projections in the courtyards and the show among the rooftop chimneys only happen at night. Then why seventh? A 4.4 rating, the lowest here. You see the courtyards, the modernist flat, the attic and the roof, semi-guided, with a glass of cava. $44 (€40) for 90 minutes. A crawl for people who'd rather drink a good cocktail than a free shot. The price is $34 (€30), on sale from $67 (€60), but read this twice: that pays for the guide only. Every drink and every tapa is extra. That, and a 4.6 rating from 261 reviews, is why it ranks low. 18-plus, with photo ID. Four hours is long, so pace yourself.

The better of the two Casa Batlló night tickets, if you can get the weather. You do the house with an audio guide, then sit at a table on Gaudí's roof terrace for an hour of live music with a glass of cava. Nothing in daytime Barcelona compares. $66 (€59) for two hours. It ranks ninth on a 4.5 rating from 848 reviews and its price. It's non-refundable, and the page gives no season. Rooftop concerts depend on the weather. Gaudí's house after the day crowds go, with a glass of cava and an audio guide, ending on the lit rooftop. First entry is 8:30 p.m., last 9:15. $33 (€29) for 75 minutes. It ranks last because 4.4 from 2,757 reviews is a weak record for the money, about $26 (€23) an hour. Non-refundable. No strollers or large bags. One reviewer warns of a strobe-style light show in the last room, worth knowing if anyone in your group is sensitive to flashing light. If you can only afford one Gaudí night, I'd pick La Pedrera's.

What Barcelona is actually like after dark
Late. Very late. The tapas bars are full of locals in the evening, dinner starts long after it would in London or New York, and the clubs open their doors around midnight. Book an early dinner and you'll eat with other tourists.
The old town is the night-walk zone. The Gothic Quarter's lanes go quiet after the shops shut, El Born fills with bars, and the Raval is louder and scruffier. Passeig de Gràcia is where the money is: Casa Batlló's own site says it's open every day until 10:30 p.m., and La Pedrera runs night sessions until 10:20. Both facades are lit and free to look at from the pavement.
La Rambla at night is for pickpockets and overpriced paella. Walk across it, not along it.
Ghost walk, tapas or Gaudí: how to pick
Do a ghost walk first. Three of them make our top four, and they're all under $25 (€22). Runner Bean's Dark Past is the one I'd book: it starts at nightfall, it covers El Born rather than the more trampled Gothic Quarter, and it's the best rated. If it's full, the Side Routes walk through the Raval is the next pick.
Barcelona ghosts are dark history, mostly. Executions, the Inquisition, plague pits under churches. That suits the old town better than haunted-house stuff.
For food, Intrepid's Tapas Night is the only food tour that made the list, and it's a good one. Small group, real bars, drinks included.
The Gaudí nights are for Gaudí fans. They're crowded and reviews are mixed, but nothing else gets you onto those roofs after dark. And the crawls are what they sound like. Los Patos if you want a club at the end; the speakeasy crawl if you want cocktails and don't mind paying for every one.
Start where Runner Bean does, under the Arc de Triomf, and walk down Passeig de Lluís Companys toward the Ciutadella park gates. Cut right into El Born. Passeig del Born, with the old market building at the end, is lively until late. Then go to Santa Maria del Mar, the Gothic basilica where the Side Routes walk finishes. Its square is lit and much quieter once the bars of El Born take over.
Cross Via Laietana into the Gothic Quarter. Go past the cathedral and into the small square of Sant Felip Neri, tucked behind it. The walls are pockmarked from a Civil War bombing. At night, with nobody around, it's the most affecting corner of the city.
Finish on Passeig de Gràcia for the two lit Gaudí facades. It's a long walk. Take the metro back.
The Magic Fountain on Montjuïc is the other free night out when it's running. We couldn't load the city's official schedule today, so check it before you make the trip up the hill.
Getting back late
The metro is generous at the weekend. TMB runs it from 5 a.m. to midnight Monday to Thursday and on Sunday, until 2 a.m. on Fridays and the night before a public holiday, and all night from Saturday into Sunday. So on a Saturday you can stay out as long as you like.
On other nights, after the metro stops, there's the NitBus network. Every route except the N0 and N19 passes through Plaça de Catalunya, which makes it easy: get there, find your number.
Taxis are black and yellow and plentiful in the centre. Use a rank or an app. See our night tour safety guide for the general rules, and keep your phone out of your back pocket on the metro.
When to go: darkness, warm nights and wet autumns
The clocks went back on 25 October, so sunset is now around 6:15 p.m. In December it's dark by 5:54. In June you're waiting until 9:59 p.m. The table below has every month.
That changes what a "sunset" product means. In June and July the Orsom catamaran sails into a sunset after 9:20 p.m. In winter it leaves before 6, and you're back on land before most people have had a drink.
Nights are mild. January lows in our weather data are about 41°F (4.8°C), and July and August nights stay around 70°F (21°C), warm enough to stay out in a T-shirt. The wettest months are September and October, with 10 or 11 rain days each. Most ghost walks run in any weather. Runner Bean says so plainly.
Casa Batlló's homepage is currently selling a winter night visit that runs until 16 March. The rooftop concert page gives no season, so in winter assume the concert may not be on and check first.
What to skip
The El Born Ghost Walk sold on Viator and GetYourGuide rated 3.8 when our researcher checked. Its name is close to Runner Bean's. Don't confuse them.
Skip the Icebar (4.2) and the hop-on bus, which rated 4.0 and isn't a night product anyway. A sunset catamaran with a DJ rated 4.3, and a party tour 4.0.
A near miss: a private night sidecar ride past the Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló scored 4.7 on our Night Score, just outside the list. At $183 (€163) per person it would have struggled anyway.
Flamenco shows aren't on this page. They're seated shows, not tours, and we don't rank them.

Also scored in Barcelona
These cleared our bar too, but scored below the ten above. Same score, same data, no write-up.
At midnight Monday to Thursday and on Sunday, at 2 a.m. on Friday and the night before a public holiday. On Saturday it runs all night into Sunday, per TMB.
Is the Gothic Quarter safe at night?
It's busy until late and generally fine. Pickpocketing is the real risk, on La Rambla and the metro above all. Keep valuables zipped away and use licensed taxis. Our safety guide has more.
Can you visit Casa Batlló or La Pedrera at night?
Yes. Casa Batlló's night visit has first entry at 8:30 p.m. and last at 9:15, about $33 (€29). La Pedrera's own site lists night sessions from 8:40 to 10:20 p.m., at $44 (€40) for adults and $21 (€19) for ages 12 to 17, with under-12s free.
What's the best ghost tour in Barcelona?
On our numbers, Runner Bean's Dark Past walk through El Born, at $25 (€22) for two hours. The Ghosts, Legends & Dark History walk in the Gothic Quarter is cheaper and the most reviewed.
What time do people go out in Barcelona?
Later than you think. Dinner is late, bars come after it, and the clubs get going around midnight. A pub crawl that ends in a club, like the Los Patos one, is timed for exactly that.
